Overview of Divisions

TEE-BALL DIVISION
Boys and Girls
4 Years Old (at time of sign-up) and Current Kindergartners

Tee-ball is a beginner division for children fours years old through kindergartners. Tee-ball players will hit off of stationary tees at home plate, potentially moving up to coach pitch session later in the season as progress warrants. Ballplayers will receive very basic instruction about the rules of the game (base-running, easy fielding and throwing, outs and runs, etc). This is a division for those children that may have never played the game before.

ROOKIE DIVISION
Boys and Girls
1st and 2nd Graders

Rookie Division is for children in the 1st grade or second grade or for those that have advanced past the Tee-Ball stage, but still want basic instruction in the fundamentals of the game. Rookies learn more advanced aspects of the game of baseball, the various positions in the field and some basic strategy both offensive and defensive. Rookie ball is mostly coach pitch.

ROOKIE SOFTBALL DIVISION
Girls
1st and 2nd Graders

Rookie Division is for future softball players in the 1st grade or second grade or for those that have advanced past the Tee-Ball stage, but still want basic instruction in the fundamentals of the game. Rookies learn more advanced aspects of the game of softball, the various positions in the field and some basic strategy both offensive and defensive.

MINORS DIVISION
Boys
3rd and 4th Graders

Minors Division is mainly for 3rd and 4th graders, or for those that have the ability to play beyond the Rookie Division, or need some extra fundamental work before moving up to the Majors. 5th graders are welcome to sign up for Minors if you, as a parent feel that your 5th grader needs extra work on fundamentals, if he or she is not quite ready for the higher competition at the Majors level, or if this is their first year in organized baseball.

Minors will be expected to understand the basics of the game and its rules and will receive instruction in more advanced aspects of the game. Minors play a more competitive level of baseball than Rookie ball.

Players that register for the Minors Division must participate in Skills Day to be evaluated by the coaches and the CYB Board of Directors. The CYB Board of Directors reserves the right to request that a parent consider moving a child into the Rookie or Majors level, depending on their skill level. The children's safety is paramount and we want each player to enjoy their experience with CYB.
